Poem –
The gap
– Ashish kumer banik
You may see the sky –
I see emptiness.
The adoration of the clouds
overflowing on your face –
The melancholy of the cloud
kingdom crowding on my face.
You stretch out your hand
and search for the
accumulated affection.
I find the value of hatred.
The golden tilak adorns –
your entire forehead.
The severe disease of secret happiness
Everyday burns my forehead.
The charm of satisfaction attracts
Everyday your morning begins.
My life is immersed
in the darkness of intense hatred.
Your heart is a calm lake,
kiss your swaying feet.
My heart is a painful
Misery desert.
Thus, your and mine –
day passes by in a regular.
I have carefully preserved the neglects –
that you gave me.
I’ll spend the rest of my time
with what I’ve got.
But I don’t want you to be sad.

ব্যবধান
– আশীষ কুমার বণিক
তুমি হয়তো আকাশ দেখো –
আমি দেখি শূ-ন্য-তা।
তোমার মুখে উপচে পড়া
মেঘের আদর –
আমার মুখে ভীড় করে,
মেঘ রাজ্যের বিষন্নতা।
হাত বাড়িয়ে তুমি খোঁজো
জমিয়ে রাখা সোহাগ আদর।
আমার কাছে হয় যে জমাট,
উপচে পরা ঘৃণার কদর।
স্বর্ণ আভার তিলক শোভে –
তোমার সারা কপাল জুড়ে।
গোপন সুখের কঠিন ব্যধি
নিত্য আমার কপাল পুড়ে।
পরিতৃপ্তির মোহন তানে
নিত্য তোমার সকাল শুরু।
নিকষ কালোয় থুবরে পরা
আমার জীবন দুরু দুরু।
হৃদয় তোমার শান্ত দিঘী
দোলে উর্মি চরণ চুমি।
হৃদয় আমার যন্ত্রণাময়
দুর্বিষহ মরুভূমি।
এভাবেই রোজ নিয়মে
তোমার-আমার যাচ্ছে বেলা।
যত্ন করে রেখেই দিলাম –
তোমার দেয়া অবহেলা।
যা’ পেয়েছি তাই নিয়ে –
কাটিয়ে দেবো বাকি সময়।
তবু তোমার দুঃখ হতে –
এ’ মনকে দেবনা প্রশ্রয়।
