Poem –
The Last Page

I am willing to lose
for the greed of getting –
Betting according to this rule
Life goes on, laughing and playing.
Intoxicated by winning and losing,
What did I get or lose –
This is how most of the time
is spent in the prison of the mind.
I am only thinking about giving –
I am taking everything I get.
Eyes and ears are all open,
yet everyone is as if blind and deaf.
I do not want to keep even a drop –
Let it be someone else’s loot.
Wearing different clothes at different times,
I’m just busy decorating myself inside and out.
My own, mine only mine.
This is me, to be exposed.
Thinking that self-interest is the essence,
I became blinded by self-interest.
What did I come to do –
What did I spend my time doing.
We unconsciously forget that –
The last page of life will be written with reckoning.

শেষ পৃষ্টা
আশীষ কুমার বণিক
পাবার লোভে হারতে রাজি –
এ’ নিয়মে ধরে বাজি
চলছে জীবন চলছেই
রঙ্গ রসে হেসে খেলে ।
হার-জিতে মত্ত হয়ে,
কি পেলাম কি হারালেম –
এ’ হিসেবেই কাটছে সময়
বেশির ভাগই মনের জেলে ।
দেয়ার কথা ভাবছি শুধুই-
যা’ পাই সবই নিচ্ছি কুড়োই ।
চক্ষু-কর্ণ সবই খোলা,
তবুও সবাই যেন অন্ধ বধির ।
রাখতে চাইনা ছিটা-ফোঁটা –
হচ্ছে হোক, অন্যের লোপাট।
ভিন্ন সময় ভিন্ন সাজে,
সাজাই কেবল ভিতর বাহির ।
আমার আমার শুধুই আমার।
এই আমাকেই করতে জাহির।
স্বার্থই সার ভেবে ভেবে,
অন্ধ হলাম স্বার্থের বশে।
কি করতে এসেছিলাম –
কি করেই সময় কাটালাম।
বেলা শেষের শেষ পৃষ্টায় –
লেখা হবেই হিসাব কষে।
